Skills & Knowledge In Lifelong Learning (SKILL) training! 

Are you between the ages of 15 and 17 and looking to find a job?

Are you a parent of a teen between the ages of 15 & 17 that would benefit from learning how to be successful in the teen work force and beyond?

Build a personal tool box that will help you when seeking employment as well as learning life skills that are necessary to be successful.  The SKILL program will be offered to teenagers with a desire to participate in this 6 session program. SKILL will touch upon topics such as preparing for an interview, filling out a resume, balancing a checkbook, maintaining a healthy adult life, and more!

This 6 session program is being offered only 6 high school students per season.
 
Date/Time:     Saturday’s from April 6th - May 11th, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Place:              East Hampton Youth and Family Services, 240 Middletown Ave
Cost:               $30 to be refunded in full if all classes are attended (No participants will be denied  based on inability to pay)



All of those who successfully complete the program will have exclusive access to our Youth Job Bank listing! 


 
SKILL topics include:




  • Preparing for a job search


  • Creating a personal resume


  • Preparing for a job interview


  • Understanding a paycheck and deductions


  • How to fill out a W4 form


  • Understanding bank accounts and how to open one


  • Learn personal budgeting


  • Creating short term and long term goals around your finances




Chris Carson will be the trainer.  Chris has over 30 years of business experience.  He is currently VP – Logistics for a manufacturing company in the greater Hartford area.  Chris’s experience includes supply chain management, warehouse and distribution, system implementation, Business-2-Business commerce, and customer service.  Chris is also an intern at East Hampton Youth and Family Services as a Marriage and Family Therapist.  He will combine his business experience along with his academic training in therapy to teach the soft skills necessary to be successful in life.
